We laughed, cried, drank, swam and tanned our bodies. We let D wait on us hand and foot. We talked about life, our friends, our children. The pool was chilly but tranquil. The conversation plentiful. We three blondes always had so much to say. We thought we could change the world. Even if the world we changed was just our small piece of it. We baked in the sun. We drank too much Tortuga Rum. But we are smart blondes. We re-hydrated with water. We spoke about how much we “got” each other. That we would “always” be BFFS. We used that term because all of our daughters did. We wanted to be like them. As if! They were like us. They just didn’t want to admit it to themselves.
L is gone now. We’ll never be the three blonde BFFS again. I still have B. She is my heart. But there are days, when I wish there were three hot blonde babes. Just sitting at the edge of a beautiful, clear pool. Talking about our simple, and beautiful lives…..
