Tunesday-Don’t Let Me Down

I know, it’s not The Beatles version. So sue me! Dana Fuchs has a voice that sounds like it’s been soaking in whiskey and cigarettes for about 20 years. While Martin Luther’s is as crisp and clear as a winter morning. Bring them together and you have a song that could melt even the most cynical person’s heart.

Across the Universe, the story of Jude and Lucy. A perfect story for this silly and sparkly girl. Think I’ll watch it after I get home from my writer’s group tonight.

Ow! Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down
(Can you dig it?)
Don’t let me down.

Happy Tunesday my loves.

  1. I just watched Across the Universe again recently and it’s one of the most powerful movies I’ve ever seen. I love it. I don’t mind that it’s not the Beatles because most of the songs in the movie have so much emotion in them.

    • I watched an interview with the director, she stated that Paul McCartney loved the movie. Said it was perfect. It really was. Such a great, great movie. Thanks for your comment hon.

      Love, Renee

  2. I adore this movie, darling. I saw in the theatre three nights in a row — I was blown away. The soundtrack album is still on my frequent playlist. I can’t help getting teary several times throughout. Jojo and Jude doing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” gives me chills.

    • I know what you mean my love. Whenever I want to be inspired or get all ooey gooey, I watch it. The love story is good, the music outstanding and the era of the story makes me wish I was there.

The part that gets to me is the change in Max when he comes back from Vietnam. He came back a jaded old man because of what he’d seen and done. Breaks my heart every time.

Let it Be was my favorite. Maybe because I’m from Michigan and my daddy, a state trooper worked the Detroit riots after King was assassinated.

      Love, Renee
